In the last quarter of 2014, Maastricht University Library was asked to donate used academic books to the Academic Resource Centre for university students and tutors in the Niger delta region of Nigeria. We were able to send over 90,000 books in English language. As a nice return gesture the Foundation project committee decided to name the new academic library department after the city of Maastricht. Mission Statement

The NDKC-project promotes reading and lifelong learning in the Niger Delta region by providing students, teachers and researchers with a knowledge-hub; a hub that will give open access to academic information that will help local academics to redefine existing fundamental values and enables them to work towards concrete improvements of their lives and environment.
